Hazard assessments that lead to real controls
Identifying hazards is the start, not the finish. We complete formal, task and field level hazard assessments with the people who do the work, and recommend controls you can actually put in place, from elimination down to PPE.

Formal and task hazard assessments
We break each job into its tasks, identify the hazards in each, rate the risk and record the controls. The result is the backbone of your program: what training, procedures, equipment and PPE each job needs, and why.
Field level hazard assessments that mean something
We help crews do better FLHAs: the right questions for the work in front of them, controls that change the job when needed, and supervisors who review them properly.
Controls you can implement
Recommendations follow the hierarchy of controls and are written for your budget and schedule, with the quick wins and the longer-term fixes set out separately.

Questions
What is the difference between a formal and a field level hazard assessment?
A formal hazard assessment looks at a job or role in depth, ahead of time. A field level hazard assessment is done at the work location before the task starts, for the conditions on the day. A good program needs both, and the formal assessment should feed the field level one.
Do workers need to be involved?
Yes. Most Canadian OHS legislation expects worker participation in hazard assessment, and assessments done with the crew are more accurate.
Can field level hazard assessments be done on a phone?
Yes. TruStar Connect has hazard assessments on the phone that work offline, with supervisor review and a history of every one.
